Pacific West is based in Seattle, and getting crews and materials across by ferry or around through the Tacoma Narrows Bridge adds real time to every trip. So the Kitsap projects we take are ones large enough to plan around that: whole-house remodels, additions, new homes and multi-room jobs, scheduled in long blocks so a crew is on site full days.
What makes sense across the water
- New home construction: new homes on rural and suburban lots, including rebuilds on existing pads.
- Kitchens, usually as part of a bigger project. See how our kitchen remodels run.
- Bathrooms, often with a second bathroom added. See how our bathroom remodels run.
Rural lots
Building or adding on outside the cities usually means more than a building permit. Rural lots may need septic design or a check that the existing system can handle another bedroom, well capacity, and critical-area review for wetlands, streams or steep slopes. Those reviews can take longer than the construction itself, so we look into them first and build them into the schedule.

Whole-house remodels and additions
Older homes in Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo often need several updates at once: windows, siding, electrical, flooring and one or two bathrooms. On larger lots, an addition or a detached unit is often possible. We plan these as one project so the travel is worth it for everyone.
How a Kitsap job runs
It starts like any other: photos and a description, then a walk-through, which we book when we're already coming across, so it can take longer to schedule than a Seattle visit. Once work starts, the crew works long blocks on site, materials are staged so nobody makes extra crossings, local suppliers deliver when that's cheaper than hauling, and inspections are booked ahead. One lead handles it all by phone, text or email.
Bainbridge Island
Bainbridge Island has its own permit department and its own rules for shorelines and critical areas, and most work there means the ferry from Seattle. We take Bainbridge projects on the same basis as the rest of the peninsula: larger jobs, planned in blocks.
Not sure your project is big enough to make sense across the water? Send it anyway. We'll give you a straight answer quickly.
Which permit office?
It depends on where the property is. Bremerton, Port Orchard, Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island each run their own permit departments, and unincorporated Kitsap County goes through the county's Department of Community Development. We check your parcel before we plan.
From the south end of the peninsula, Tacoma is close: see our Tacoma page, or where else we work.
What people ask us
Do you work on the Kitsap Peninsula?
Yes, by arrangement, mostly for larger projects that are worth planning around the ferry or the drive.
Is there a travel charge?
Any travel cost shows up as its own line in the estimate.
Which office issues my permit?
Your city's permit department if you're inside Bremerton, Port Orchard, Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island. Otherwise, Kitsap County Department of Community Development.
Can you build a new home on a rural Kitsap lot?
Often. Rural lots add septic, well and critical-area reviews, which we plan for in feasibility.
Do you take small Kitsap jobs?
Usually not on their own, because of the travel. We can often add smaller items to a larger project.
